Does the cottage have a BBQ?

BBQs are provided for guest use, but they are located in a more central area in a grouping of five. Propane and BBQ tools are also provided for your convenience. The central area has the added benefit of helping cottage neighbours meet one another and allows for more interesting barbecuing!

Can we bring our own BBQ?

Due to insurance concerns and risk reduction, personal BBQs are not allowed at Scotch Creek Cottages.

Are there grocery stores and liquor stores in the area?

Yes, we are just 5 minutes away from the Scotch Creek Market store. This is a full-service grocery liquor store with a deli, bakery, meat department, and full produce area. We are always amazed at how well a small community store keeps the store clean, neat and well-stocked. Additionally, they sell ready-to-eat items.

Where can we rent boats, kayaks, canoes, wakeboards, water skis, kneeboards and tubes?

We rent all these items directly from the resort. For more information, check our boat and kayak rental pages.

Do you rent Seadoos or Wave-runners?

No, we do not rent these from the resort. However, they are available for rent in the area and can be brought back to the resort for use.

Can we bring our own boat (and keep it in the lake)?

Absolutely, the resort is very nicely set up for boating, and for cottage rental customers who have their own boats, we encourage you to bring and enjoy them from the resort. We have mooring floats available on a first-come, first-serve basis. We have always had enough floats for guests with boats to be able to have their own for their stay with us. We also have a great boat dock and a rowboat to go out, so bring your boat to the dock for loading and unloading.

Boat trailer parking?

We have lots of room set aside for complementary boat trailer parking.

Does the cottage have a fire pit?

Each cottage does not have its own fire pit, however, there are two group fire pits on the grounds, one right on the beach and one just up above the beach. The setup works out well. Most days, someone will start the fire, and then people will come and go, visiting, singing, making s’mores, and more. Many nights, you can enjoy watching the moon rise across the lake, which adds to the spectacular lake ambiance. Note: If starting the fire, before leaving please pass the responsibility on to another adult for extinguishing the fire. Fires cannot be left unsupervised.

What is the cost of firewood?

Firewood is provided and there are no extra firewood charges involved.

Do we need to bring bedding and linens?

No, the cottage is all setup and ready for you to move in. It is complete with all the linens, towels, and dishcloths you would need for indoors. Beach towels and/or blankets for use outside are not provided and should be packed for the trip.

Should we bring our bikes?

Scotch Creek is a great town for biking, with quieter roads, bike paths, and areas within Shuswap Lake Provincial Park. We strongly recommend transporting your bikes with you if you are set up to do so.

Do you allow RV camping on-site?

No camping is allowed on Scotch Creek Cottage grounds, either in an RV or tent. However, Shuswap Lake Provincial Park is right outside our back gate and may be an option if you are staying at the resort and have friends or family who need a spot to camp in the area. Another possibility to check out would be the Chimminy Rock Campground in the nearby town of Celista. Also, there may be some opportunities to rent a trailer pad from a private owner in the nearby Caravans West Community.

If you are on an extended BC or Canadian RV holiday but would like to stay with us at Scotch Creek Cottages, we may be able to arrange for you to park your RV with us or to arrange storage nearby, depending on the size of the unit and our parking availability at the time of your stay. This must always be prearranged with management, and under no circumstance may the RV be used or occupied while on site.

Tents on Scotch Creek Cottage’s property are also not allowed. The one exception is shade tents for small children or infants.

Are the cottages air-conditioned?

The cottages are not air-conditioned, although we have not found this to be a problem. Being so close to the lake with the mountains out behind Scotch Creek, we get a great lake effect—cooling in the evening. Even when days get pretty hot, it cools off quite nicely in the evening to comfortable sleeping temperatures.

Can we bring our small family dog or other pet?

No, although we love dogs ourselves, they are not allowed in the cottages or on the grounds at Scotch Creek Cottages. If you are holidaying with your pet and would still like to stay with us, there may be some kennel options in the area.

What is the cancellation policy?

Our cancellation policy is 90 days. Cancellations received 90 days before check-in will be subject to the initial $300 plus tax cancellation fee. Cancellations received after 90 days: you are responsible for the total cost of the rental unless we can rebook the unit for you. If we can rebook the unit for you, then your responsibility goes back down to the $300 plus tax cancellation fee. If the need arises and you must cancel for whatever reason be sure to let us know right away to give us the best chance of re-booking the unit for you. There may also be some opportunities to move the booking within the same year and season. This must be discussed and prearranged with management.

What are the rules regarding Smoking, Vaping and Marijuana use?

We do have a designated covered smoking area towards the back of the resort on the way to the volleyball and boat parking areas.

Vaping and Marijuana are not allowed inside the cottages, these are all Non-Smoking no Marijuana Accommodations. Smoking Marijuana is not allowed anywhere on the Scotch Creek Cottages grounds. Smoking is not allowed on our waterfront additions (dock, swim-raft and water trampoline). We would also ask that you refrain from smoking in your boat when around our dock. Smoking is also not permitted in our BBQ area, around our playground and around our wood pile. Please be highly courteous towards our other guests and neighbours and be super careful with the disposal of cigarette butts when smoking so that we may maintain the policy as is. Please try to smoke away from and downwind of other guests as much as possible. Also, smoking, vaping, drugs and alcohol use is not permitted in the Scotch Creek Cottages / Shuswap Vacation Rental Boats.
